not much to update

almost busto on FTP, fuckin rigged ass site. these regs and their superuser accounts that win every flip, etc.... i'm done with tourneys as well... it's just sick how good of a player you can be and still get shit on. The games are getting tougher but the new players have these god mode accounts that never miss... I haven't made a dime in 4 months and surviving on last year's profits however at this rate, should be running out soon. :o(

On a more positive note, the wife's pregnancy reaches 15 or 16 weeks on wednesday. She's really starting to show now and the excitement is great for the both of us.

first sunday with no donkaments

yesterday was the 1st time i haven't played any tourneys in a long time on a sunday and honestly it felt great! I think i probably saved like 3-5k lol. I've been so dry in tourneys that it's not even worth the time or energy especially with a baby on the way. We're almost at 12 weeks already! I had a pretty good October even with a -15k day....I'm still in both survivor football leagues as well, one of them being over 10k for first. At first I felt like writing, but i really don't anymore lol.

Can win when ahead in tourneys

Every sunday i tell myself, i'm never going to play tourneys again, but the next week rolls around and the more hundreds and thousands get dumped into tourneys going for the big hit. It's pretty horrendous how bad i run on ftp when it comes to tourneys. I feel like i win 20% of all flips then when i get it in good, i still lose. Monster pairs are never holding....it's a joke yet I put myself through the same torture week in and week out.. or rather sunday in and sunday out. Here's a prime example in the Sunday Brawl - 256.00 buy in....

As October comes to an end it was another up and down month starting off great, then dropping all the profits, recovering then dropping it all again. I had 2 -14k days but i think I might have broken even so far. It very frustrating as I had a big year last year and this year I've fallen well short in comparison.

On a positive note, the baby is now 10 weeks old :) He or she is doing great and we have another dr. appt tomorrow for a check up.

Live Poker

Played some live poker for first time since borgata yesterday at Tampa Hard Rock. The wifey went to a country concert with her sister across the street from the HR, so I got to play a bit of 5/10. I got stuck 1500 really quick, but got unstuck witht his hand.... Best hand of the night was a limped pot, I have 98dd, flop 10d 7d 3d, dude bets 25, i raise to 75, he calls, turn 6d, chk chk river who cares, he donks 200, i put him in for 1100 more he snaps with A2dd and slams it down... no good sir! straight flush. I also played a hand where i raised JJ to 50, got 3 callers, bet 130 on a 9h8h3s board, guy calls, turn 8s, i chk, he bets 200, i ship it, he calls off 700 more... river 9, so i think i lost but he turns over the poewr k6hh that bricked off so ez game. Last hand of the night I raise 50 with QQ, good lag calls out of sb along with one fish. Flop 8s 4s 3d, he donks 125 into me, i call, turn 9h, he donks 325, i call, river Ac, i bets 600, i think for a while and end up folding and showing and he shows me JJ. I thought he had 88 - JJ or ace high flush draw but we were both over 3k deep so I played it pretty passively. Still ended the session +1100ish so it was nice to book a cash win.

We are up to 9 weeks on the pregnancy test and the baby is about as big as a grape :) grow grow grow little guy or girl!

Little D - 8 weeks old

He or she is 8 weeks old. Personally I think our child is going to be a boy, but everyone else thinks a girl. We just wanted healthy though. :o) I've been traveling a ton lately. borgata was pretty unsuccessful which was disappointing. We then went to Tennessee for a family wedding and had a great time there. We stayed with my Aunt in Knoxville in her 5 bedroom/7bath cabin on top of the mountains which she lives by herself in. It's pretty ridiculous awesome house. The weather was awesome and it was nice to get away from Florida for a bit. We went hiking twice and saw a bunch of deer, turkeys and even a bear. We did a 5 mile hike that ended at a beautiful waterfall. Nature is just awesome and the untouched parts of this world are just fantastic to visit.

Poker has been going pretty well as I continue to recover from the horrid August shots I took that cripled me for a while. My wife quit her job so she's home now. It's nice to have her around especially now that our Little D is on the way :o)

:o)

My wife is now pregnant :) We have been trying for what seems like forever and finally God has answered our prayers and brought us a baby! We are beyond excited and she is only 6 or 7 weeks now but we couldn't be more thrilled. I've been traveling a ton lately. Went to NYC for some yankee games and also to Atlantic City for Borgata series. It was pretty unsuccessul but my friend Josh Brikis shipped the 1650 for 120k and Dwyte Pilgrim shipped the main for 780k. They are both sicko awesome players so I'm glad fish didn't win. I bubbled the 1650 and finished 14th in the turbo 400rebuy for a few bucks, but still ended down a little on the trip. I'm recovering online so I hope it continues as my wife just quit her job as she is going back to school in January. We are off to Tennessee for a wedding this weekend which is exciting as well then going to take it easy for the rest of the year.

grinding

been grinding my ass off trying to recover the money from failed attempts at 1020 and 2550 but it's a grind man. I've gotten like 14k of 60k back but still a long way to go. I'm even sitting at 50c/1 cause the action for hu tables has sucked so bad. I guess the economy is catching up on the donator fish. I'm taking a much needed vacation with the wife tomorrow then i booked a flight to atlantic city for borgata to play a bit there then i'm going to nyc for a few yankee games.

the day i quit donkaments?

i played quite a few and most of them ended in horrible fashion with beats that make you want to puke every day.

Here's a nice gem in the Sunday Million where a fish with all the chips just shoves into your kings and flops the nuts in your mouth.

pretty standard for my life on sundays. I lost a shitton yesterday almost all the profits for the week but hey what can you do. The wife and I booked a nice getaway cruise coming up so we're looking forward to that. Some time to get away from this f-in computer and life i'm living. I'm probably just gonna cancel borgata but you never know. I really just don't know...

rewarding bad players

it's sick how im a winner on stars tourneys but when it comes to FTP, it's so fucking rigged against me. I'm stuck a million today so maybe I'll play a tourney to get unstuck. After losing a flip AQ to 88 cause i win 10% of flips on ftp, this superstar gets all my chips.

I'm so fucking frustrated at have 1k days 2k days for wins and slowly climbing out of the hole, then FML the deck is just so cruel and i lose 7k or 10k and it's back to fucking start again. It's so unfair to let horrible players win.

dropped down bustofied and borgata

Starting with the good, borgata poker open is around the corner which I'm really looking forward to. They run a series of events that are full of fish. The value is awesome and the cash games are even better. I just have to stay out of the pit and I should come back with a bunch of money. I busted my UB account but got a few transfers from random players trading for stars and ftp. It's pretty crazy that I busted an acct that had over 50k in it at one time. I dropped down considerably in stakes. No more 25/50 and barely even sitting at 1020 anymore because i'm afraid I'll go busto on the other sites. I've set some new goals for myself, 1k a day and then just quit for the day. As my downer has now eclipsed 57k, hopefully i'll be out in 2 months. FML!

small update

I took a small break from online poker because i just couldn't win anymore. I lost 1 day out of 32 days playing in Vegas which was obviously the tits, but since returning home, i've done nothing but lose. I've come out of 30k downers before, but this recent downswing is 52k which is a huge chunk of my bankroll. Part of it is my mistake by moving up when I'm stuck, but I've run absolutely the worst of my life losing every flip and every 80/20 or 70/30 doesn't matter. It's just sick as we poker players say.

Florida live poker is finally in full effect though. I've been to daytona 3 times since they raised the limits and booked wins on all 3 sessions....although nothing huge, wins are wins and it's paid out in cash which is of course nice as well.

I'm excited for September as Borgata is putting on another series that runs for about 2 weeks and included several deep stacks events, a 2k HU event and then the 3500 main event. I really need a big score to get back on track. FTOPS has also started, but I can't remember the last time I cashed a FTP tourney, I probably won't play many of them outside of the 500 HU.

The wife and I are still trying for a baby and actually paid for some fertility treatments so we'll know on Tuesday if it worked. They are 1k each month and it's a 20% chance it works and 4% chance for multiples. I just want one for now k thx. I'm getting up there closing in on 30 years old pretty fast, so I guess play time is coming to an end and family time is the next step in life.

I need a vacation. Ya, I was in Vegas for 6 weeks, but that really wasn't a vacation... it was just a hot place to go and do work. I want to go cruising again. I love to cruise.

Borgata is coming up Sept 8 - 23. I love the Borgata. It's a beautiful hotel in Atlantic City. AC is a dump, but we don't go outside the Borgata so it doesn't matter.

Final Tabled a major

Just when Im about over tourneys and say I'm never going to play them again, I get 6th in the Sunday Warm up yesterday for 24.7k. I lost a huge flip late to get to 6 million chips 66 vs q8, flop 875... brick brick, but I played well and held when i was ahead and lost when i was behind, so that's about how tourneys should go. I ended up shoving J10 from the btn 6 handed and the BB snapped me off with A5cc and flopped a flush, gg me. It was 117k for first which would have been awesome as the wife and I are looking to buy a rental house for some extra income. Oh well life goes on and at least I'm unstuck on the week.

GL to all my friends still in the main event. Today starts day 3.

Flying home tomorrow

And honestly it can't come soon enough. Everything was cool in the house at first, everyone got along, but after a month of having 7 dudes live together (even with maids) the house is pretty messy and it's time to go home. I've thought it over long and hard and I'm skipping the main event this year. Online went really well for me in the summer and I hope it continues. I learned a lot about myself and how hard it is to be away from the one you love for a long time. I miss my dog too and hope she remembers me since I've been gone since May 26. I still don't know how I'm going to get all my shit home. I have two giant suitcases and computer with monitor that my wife shipped to me. Guess I have to try to ship it home today or bring it on the plane with me.

End of Series

End of the summer and series for me in Vegas. I ended w 3 cashes of like 10 tourneys and lost overall live like 18k. The straw that broke the camels back was the 2500 today getting it in with KK vs AK, river Ace to just FML my whole summer. I've decided not to play the main event this year and do something else with the 10k I would have spent on it. It's just so draining and frustrating to accumulate chips vs the worst players in the world just to get shit on by the deck and mincash or bust out of tourneys. It just wasn't my year.....there's always next year for the wsop....plus I'm looking forward to getting back to real life with my wife and puppy. so the limits were just raised in FLorida and the games are going to be awesome.

Monday, June 28, 2010

Going home soon

The summer hasn't been all I'd hoped for this year. I wanted to make at least 50k for June/July, but I haven't even broken even this year. I've dumped some money unnecessarily in the pits which is a poker player's worst enemy and have 2 measly tourney cashes with some horrible flip bad juices for big stacks in those tourneys. The only thing keeping my summer afloat is the online pokers. Liquid cash hurts more to lose cause you actually feel it going away. I've only had one losing day online this summer which is pretty sick. I've gotten some decent 10/20 action and played my best and profits are good. Yesterday was a pretty standard sunday, min cash a tourney or two and brick everything else. I had a decent run going in the ub200k but lost kings to 9s all in pre and that was the end of that. There is a 1500 wsop tourney today that I might play.... i'm really not sure. The wifey and her sister are on an all day helicopter tour of grand canyon today, so I hope they have fun. I hate heights and aircrafts in general so it's just not for me.

I'm feeling pretty discouraged and disappointed with the results the summer has brought, but there's always next year right? I've pretty much decided I'm not going to play the main event either.

WSOP sinkage continues

The tourneys are pretty much a laughing joke to me. Build up a nice stack and lose every flip known to poker and bust.... that's the story of my wsop tourneys. the series is over half over and I have 2 measly cashes. I mean if it wasn't for online, i'd be stuck 25-30k and be flying home already, but online has been kind. Yesterday, i played the 1500nl event. You start with 4500 chips and i built up to 36k by 150/300/25 which is a ton of chips. I lost a flip 1010 to AK to get to 70k and then lost AQ to KQ which is also rigged and finally shoved 99 over a raise and dude behind me has aces. gg. thanks for the waste of 11 hours of my life. At least my Mrs D is here. :)

Live tourneys are still rigged, online is good

Been crushing pretty good online lately. It's been really nice in the office because there will be 4 or 5 people playing and we can all communicate about hands and discuss strategy with eachother from all angles of poker. There are tourney guys, rush poker guys, full ring, 6 max and then heads up guys. I'm excited because Mrs. D (the wifey) flys in tomorrow night. :) I haven't seen my wife in almost a month. Other than online, I bricked the 1k on Saturday - really couldn't get anything going and shoved 66 over a limp and guy behind me had QQ and I didn't catch up, but I did do well in a 5/10 cash game before the tourney started. i'm still down like 16k liquid, but I'm up about that online so it's all good. I played a guy at 10.20 yesterday for 3-4 hours and started down 6k then ended +7.5k on him before he quit. I've just recently been starting to sit at 10/20 so the swings are pretty brutal sometimes, but you can really clear some big profits if you game select and play your best.

Been playing a lot of ping pong in the house with the housemates and we went out a few times to some steakhouses and once to blue martini for cougar night. Funny to watch the youngster housemates try to pick up on the girls. We've taken some badass limos around town as well as it's cheaper to just pay for a big limo then get 2 taxis to the strip.

I'm not sure how many more events I'm going to play this year. It's been pretty frustrating as the fields are super soft yet I haven't made a deep run yet. We'll see though... there are just a few short weeks left....

Golfing in Vegas other random stuff drunk SNGs

4 of us from the house golfed yesterday at Rhodes Ranch golf club here in Vegas. It was an awesome sick course, pretty challenging with some nice greens. Price wasn't too bad either. I had 2 birdies on the round which was pretty nice. Tonight I have some friends going to a wine bar so I might join them. I'm having some serious laptop problems so I have to run up to best buy to either have the geek squad fix this lagging problem or just buy a new one. Also need to find a place in vegas for a haircut.

We've been playing 100.00 house SNGs every night. I won one and got HU with kyle last night but he owned me pretty hard and scooped the house. Tomorrow is the 1500 which I'm probably going to play. One of us really needs to go deep in something. It's really fun to be on the rail of your friends deep in a tourney. I want to be that guy that is deep in the tourney though. We set a goal for our office of 200k for the summer. There are 7 of us total and we range from 1/2 6 max grinders to Derrick who plays 25/50 and up. I think I'm up the most so far :) so let's just hope it continues!!

Live from Vegas

It's been a frustrating start to the WSOP for me this year. It's my first year playing an almost full schedule of events. I have one cash so far in a 1500.00 and then I cashed the 1600 at Venetian, but overall I'm down 14k on the trip. We just moved into our house yesterday and all the guys are really cool and easy to get along with. Most of us went out to XS night club at Encore. I'm the senior of the group at 29 as most of them are 23-25, plus i'm the only married one (well jason is pretty much married) so I guess I have to keep my fatherly eye on them to keep them in order. It's okay though.... I'm not a huge fan of nightclubs. They are overpriced for entrance, overpriced for drinks and it's so crowded just bumping into people.... it's really not my thing, plus I grew out of that stage of life a while ago.

We got our office set up though and I ran awful today, but played people worse than I ran so had a good day yesterday and today clearing 10k. I withdrew money before the series to buy into events, so it's nice to recover the bankroll a bit. It's hard being away from the wife (and the dog) but she's coming out next week which I'm super excited for. I'm so fortunate to have a supportive and understanding wife. She loved me when I had 100.00 to my name and always tells me that she'd live in a cardboard box with me if that's what it took. You can't beat that. I plan on playing a few more events but still haven't locked up my 10k main event seat yet. Hopefully that comes soon. I'll try to keep this updated throughout the series.

been another long while

went to borgata and mincashed some tourneys, was very unlucky deep in some tourneys... KK < JJ and QQ vs JJ vs AQ river Ace deep in another tourney. Been dabbling a lot with PLO and getting better at it as I'm getting not much action HU for regular NL hold em. Here's a fun hand:

i had my worst week ever last month losing 40k in 4 days taking a shot at a fish at 25/50 I had him down to 1600.00 and he ran it up to like 27k. pretty gross.... so it's been a slow grind back. Taxes hurt a lot too, but they are done and over with.

March Beginnings

Didn't really do much for my birthday. I mean, once you pass 18 and 21 and then the insurance drop at 25, there really isn't many birthdays to get excited about except maybe 55 for social security or is that 62 now... then 65 when we can withdraw roth iras and mutual funds and stuff. Yesterday was a brutal grind for me... I took some shots at 10.20 and 25.50 and lost 13k in like 2hours. it was so bad. I played all day though and got it all back 11 hours later playing nothing higher than 5/10. It was my best comeback ever. I felt like such a superstar ending the day +188 bucks lol. Here are a few of the hands that crushed me early.

February

Haven't been real good with updating, but I've been trying to play more since returning from vacation. We took a cruise to Cozumel, Costa Rica and Panama. It was nice husband/wife time... and we met some nice people on board as well. We visited the Mayan Ruins of Tulum in Mexico and went white water rafting in Costa Rica which was awesome. We had a Panama Canal trip booked, but unfortunately my wife was really sick so we had to cancel it. We did get off the boat to get some magnets and shirts and stuff though so it wasn't a lost cause. We get refrigerator magnets from all the cities and countries we visit. We've accumulated quite a collection!

I've been taking more shots at 10.20 and 25/50 lately some good some bad. The flips are more expensive and hurt pretty bad when you lose like this:

Where's the pair the board one time?!?!? Oh well, but I stacked a few other guys later in the day so all in all a good day.

My birthday is coming up next week. I can't believe I'll be 29. What an old fart I am in the poker community.

Vacation Time

Off for a much needed vacation for both the wife and I. We are headed on a cruise to Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama Canal. Super excited to see new parts of this big world we live in.... Having a pretty good month so far swinging big and took some successful shots at 10/20 and 25/50 mainly because I was stuck at smaller levels... Happy Valentines to all you love birds. Go buy your companion a snuggie.

Back from Borgata

I'm back from Borgata. I bubbled the 560 deep stacks, did ok in 2k HU matches, but lost to a calling station..... boo And in the 3500, blind vs blind, i raised 10 4 he called, flop 10 4 2 and he has 22, gg me. Tourneys are dumb.

So I'm back home and grinding online. Doing ok my first 2 days back, but this pot really hurt...

New year stuff

Been lacking in the updates, but ended the year in a small downer, but still crushed November and December and met the goal of over 200K, so I've set the bar even higher for 2010 - 300k. We're off to a pretty good start in January so let's do it.
